The EPM building stands out with its curved glass facade reflecting the Medellín sky, rising like a wave over the intersection of the Medellín River and the city's main traffic arteries. This is the headquarters for Empresas Públicas de Medellín, the city’s utility provider. It exists because of a nineteen fifty-five decree that granted the city power to manage its own water and electricity. The structure houses the engineers and planners who keep the lights on and water running across the entire department.
