Plazuela San Ignacio

The Plazuela San Ignacio is defined by the sharp, terracotta-colored brick facade of the San Ignacio Church, which anchors the square with its distinctive neo-Gothic towers. This space began as a formal plaza in the early twentieth century, designed to frame the surrounding university and religious buildings. In nineteen thirty, a group of students and local workers gathered here to protest government policies, and the square became the epicenter of intellectual life in Medellin, where political debates often outlasted the actual academic classes.
