Palace of Culture Rafaél Uribe Uribe

The Palacio de la Cultura Rafael Uribe Uribe occupies an entire block, defined by its striped facade of black and white stone. Belgian architect Agustín Goovaerts designed the building in the nineteen twenties, intending it to serve as the seat of the Antioquia departmental government. During construction, workers discovered a structural flaw in the foundation that forced them to adapt the plans mid-project. It later housed the public library and currently holds the archives and cultural exhibits of the department.
