Edificio Vásquez

The Edificio Vásquez occupies the block with a facade of mustard-yellow masonry and intricate, carved window frames that distinguish it from the surrounding glass towers. Built in the late nineteenth century, it served as a commercial hub for Medellín's emerging elite. During the early twentieth century, the building nearly met the wrecking ball multiple times to make room for modernization. Its preservation came down to the stubborn persistence of local advocates who valued the structure's distinct Republican architectural style over new office space.
