Plaza de La Libertad de Medellín

The Plaza de la Libertad features two towering, slanted concrete slabs that lean toward each other like a frozen collision. Architect Giancarlo Mazzanti designed these structures to anchor a new administrative hub for the Antioquia government, completed in twenty-ten. While the plaza serves as a public square, its most distinct moment came during construction when crews unearthed colonial-era remains beneath the site. Rather than stalling the project, engineers integrated those layers of history directly into the foundation of the modern glass and steel complex.
