Parroquia de la Veracruz

The Parroquia de la Veracruz stands out with its sober, colonial white facade and a distinct stone cross mounted atop its modest tower. Completed in the early eighteenth century, this church claims the title of the oldest religious building in Medellín. While the city grew rapidly around it, the chapel remained a quiet witness to the colonial era. During the nineteenth century, it served as the burial place for several prominent local figures who shaped the early identity of the Antioquia region.
