The Rotermann Salt Storage building features a thick, uneven limestone facade and a jagged, modern roof that looks like a giant, rusty set of teeth. Built in nineteen oh eight, the structure served as a massive warehouse for salt, a precious commodity in the Russian Empire. Christian Abraham Rotermann designed the building to keep salt dry, using internal supports to bear the weight of the heavy mineral. A fire gutted the interior in the nineties, leaving only the shell until its recent conversion.
