Patkuli Viewing Platform

The Patkuli Viewing Platform sits atop a steep limestone cliff at the northern edge of Toompea Hill, marked by a sturdy wooden railing that overlooks the old city walls. During the nineteenth century, the city demolished parts of the medieval fortifications to create this walkway for residents to admire the view of the harbor. Baron Patkuli, a local aristocrat, funded the construction of the stairs leading up the cliffside, which bear his name to this day.
