Lennusadam – Eesti Meremuuseum

The seaplane hangars at Lennusadam feature three thin concrete domes that arch across the harbor without any internal support columns. Built for the Russian Empire in nineteen sixteen, these structures sheltered aircraft protecting the Baltic Sea. During the Soviet occupation, the hangars served as a closed military zone, eventually falling into severe disrepair with trees growing through the roof. Today, the hangars house a museum where the submarine Lembit rests, a vessel that spent decades underwater before returning to this concrete shell.
