Estonian History Museum - Great Guild Hall

The Great Guild Hall is defined by the three tall, arched doorways carved into its limestone facade and the pair of stone lions carved into the portal. Built in fourteen ten, this building served as the seat of the wealthiest merchants in Tallinn. These traders controlled the city’s commerce for centuries, using this hall to hold their lavish banquets and secret judicial meetings. In fifteen sixty, merchant Hans Viant broke a centuries-old tradition by inviting his young, uninvited wife to a guild feast.
