St. Catherine's Passage

St. Catherine’s Passage connects Vene Street to Müürivahe Street through a narrow, stone-walled corridor. Its most recognizable feature is the collection of massive, medieval limestone grave markers leaning against the wall of the former Saint Catherine’s Church. These slabs belonged to the Dominican monastery that stood here until the Reformation. During the Soviet era, the passage served as a workspace for local artisans. Today, the passage remains a quiet, contained fragment of the medieval city, trapped between the high, ancient monastery walls.
