It anchors the corner of this residential quarter, which was laid out in the late nineteenth century to expand Strasbourg toward the northeast. While the surrounding neighborhood carries the formal, heavy masonry of the German Imperial era, this particular structure retains a distinct, vertical grace. Its facade holds a series of carved stone balconies that remain exactly as they appeared in nineteen oh five.
