Place Broglie

Place Broglie is a wide, rectangular square anchored by the Hôtel de Ville, which was built as the residence of the Hanau-Lichtenberg family. In seventeen seventy, the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed in this very building during his stay in Strasbourg. Later, in seventeen ninety-two, Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle premiered the Marseillaise in the home of the mayor, situated on this same square. It remains a space where the city’s political heart beats, surrounded by buildings that hosted these cultural milestones.
