Pont Saint-Martin

The Pont Saint-Martin is a narrow wooden bridge crossing a small arm of the Ill River, distinguished by its simple, weathered timber structure nestled low against the water. Built in the late nineteenth century to replace an earlier stone passage, the bridge served as a critical shortcut for the tanners who once worked in these cramped quarters. During the flood of nineteen oh seven, workers had to scramble to keep the water from sweeping the entire deck downstream into the main channel.
