Maison Kammerzell

The Maison Kammerzell features a dark, intricate timber frame that stretches three stories high, covered in dozens of carved wooden figures. Built in fourteen twenty-seven, it served as a merchant house for decades before Martin Braun, a local cheese seller, purchased it in the sixteenth century. Braun hired artists to carve religious and mythological scenes into the beams, including signs of the zodiac and portraits of heroic figures. It remained in the Braun family for generations, eventually becoming the city's oldest restaurant.
