This is a traditional Winstub, a place built on the Alsatian custom of serving local wine in a casual, wood-paneled setting. For decades, it provided a social anchor for the local working class during the rapid industrial expansion of the nineteenth century. The tavern remains one of the few spots in this district that maintains its original purpose from that era.
