Fontaine de l'eau bénite

The Font de la place des Cardeurs features a stone basin fed by a constant stream of water pouring from a masked face carved into the central pillar. While many fountains in Aix-en-Provence draw from the thermal springs that defined the city, this one serves as a quiet marker of the neighborhood's former identity. It once stood near the guilds of carders, the workers who prepared wool for spinning, whose trade gave the entire square its name centuries ago.
