Fontaine Moussue

The Fontaine Moussue drips with thick, bright green layers of calcareous vegetation that sprout directly from its stone basin. Built in sixteen sixty-seven, the fountain sits exactly where the old Roman baths once stood. Its name comes from this living, mossy crust, which builds up constantly as mineral-rich thermal water overflows the edges. Locals often used the water to wash their laundry, while seventeenth-century travelers stopped here to scrub the dust of the road from their boots using the same warm flow.
