Hôtel de Caumont

The Hotel de Caumont features a massive, stone-carved entrance portal that interrupts the straight lines of the Rue Joseph Cabassol. Built in the seventeen forties for the Marquis de Cabannes, the mansion served as a residence for the local nobility during the height of the Enlightenment. Pauline de Caumont, the final private owner, refused to vacate the building during the German occupation in the nineteen forties, instead forcing the officers to share the space with her and her beloved collection of paintings.
