Hôtel de Boisgelin

other

The Hôtel de Boisgelin features a massive, ornately carved stone portal flanked by colossal pillars that tower over the Rue Goyrand. This seventeenth-century townhouse served as the private residence for the Boisgelin family, local nobility who climbed the ranks of the Provençal Parlement. When the Marquis de Boisgelin once hosted a grand reception here, he reportedly ran out of wine for his guests and had his servants secretly refill the bottles with colored water, hoping the flickering candlelight would hide his deception.
