The La Maison de la Violette occupies a glass-walled barge permanently moored on the Canal du Midi. A blue-painted flower box runs the length of its deck, filled with the signature Toulouse violets that give the vessel its name. This boat operates as a dedicated center for the city’s historic violet industry. In the nineteen nineties, it replaced the struggling outdoor markets that once lined the canal banks, centralizing the sale of violet perfumes, candies, and liqueurs in a single, floating storefront.
