Cœur Défense

landmark

Cœur Défense rises as a pair of curved towers clad in white marble, connected by a central atrium that glows with natural light. Designed by architect Jean-Paul Viguier, this structure holds the record for the largest office floor area in Europe. When it opened in two thousand one, the project replaced a smaller, outdated complex from the nineteen sixties. Workers inside navigate a massive interior volume where glass roofs bridge the space between the two granite-faced columns, creating a city within a city.
