The brick chimney standing at the edge of Parc Gustave Eiffel marks the location of the former workshops of the engineer Gustave Eiffel. In the eighteen eighties, this site housed the factory where the iron components for the Eiffel Tower were pre-assembled before being shipped to the Champ de Mars in Paris. Hundreds of workers labored here to manufacture the precise iron latticework that eventually defined the Parisian skyline. Today, the park sits on the ground where those thousands of structural pieces were shaped.
