The Amphithéâtre Edgar Faure sits within the main building of the Université Paris-Dauphine, a concrete structure originally designed as the headquarters for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The lecture hall bears the name of the man who served as Minister of National Education in the late nineteen sixties. Edgar Faure pushed through the reforms that restructured the French university system after the student protests of May nineteen sixty-eight. This hall occupies the space where NATO delegates once debated Cold War defense policies.
