The Jardin du Ranelagh features a bronze statue of Jean de La Fontaine, set against winding paths and old chestnut trees. This garden occupies the former site of the Chateau de Boulainvilliers, a seventeenth century estate owned by a financier who hosted lavish parties for the French aristocracy. When the financier went bankrupt, the estate eventually fell to developers, but the grounds remained a public park. Today, the park holds a vintage carousel that has delighted children here since eighteen ninety-nine.
