Jardins du Trocadéro

The Jardins du Trocadéro stretch out with a wide, central water staircase lined by twenty gilded bronze statues of animals and human figures. Built for the nineteen thirty-seven World’s Fair, the gardens replaced the older grounds of the Palais du Trocadéro. Workers dug into the hillside to create the cascading fountains, which pump thousands of gallons of water into the reflecting pool below. That year, the crowds gathered here to watch the light shows illuminate the spray against the evening sky.
