Le Regard du Cygne

The facade of Le Regard du Cygne sits flush with the street, marked by a deep, arched entryway that once served as a water inspection point for the ancient Belleville aqueduct. Inside, the space opens into a high-ceilinged dance studio, its rough stone walls retaining the chill of the underground reservoir it replaced. Amy Holloway and Michel Raji transformed this industrial hollow into a choreographic center in nineteen eighty-one, specifically to house performances where the audience sits only inches from the dancers.
