The Promenade Khalil Gibran stretches along the left bank of the Seine as a narrow, tiered walkway tucked between the river and the urban traffic. It occupies the former path of a railway line that once served the heavy industrial factories of the Grenelle district. In nineteen eighty-eight, the city reclaimed this industrial border, turning a landscape of soot and gears into a quiet terrace. A bronze statue of the Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran sits here, staring toward the water.
