Église Saint-Paul - Chapelle Sainte-Marguerite

The Eglise Saint-Paul sits in a dense pocket of the old city, anchored by a prominent octagonal lantern tower that rises above the surrounding tile roofs. This building dates back to the middle of the tenth century, serving for generations as a parish church for the riverside merchants of Lyon. In eighteen thirty-five, an engineer named Pollet replaced the choir with a neoclassical design, creating an awkward collision of centuries where medieval Romanesque walls meet structured, symmetrical stone additions.
