Square Georges Gay features a dense canopy of mature trees that contrast with the surrounding urban density of Les Lilas. The small public garden honors a local councilor who died in nineteen forty-four during the French Resistance. Before it became a green space for neighborhood residents, the land held the workshops of the Merville factory, which manufactured specialized heating equipment for decades. Today, a stone plaque near the main entrance marks the dedication to Georges Gay, keeping his name anchored to the ground.
