Palais Morass

The Palais Morass features a pale, weathered baroque facade punctuated by an ornate, carved sandstone portal. Built in the early eighteenth century for a local magistrate, it served as the private residence for the Morass family before eventually transitioning into the Kurpfälzisches Museum. When the building was completed in seventeen twelve, it was one of the few stone houses to survive the widespread destruction wrought by French troops just decades earlier. Its thick walls hold the secrets of Heidelberg's recovery after the devastation.
