The Dresden Academy of Fine Arts features a massive glass dome topped by a golden statue of the goddess Fama. Locals call this structure the Lemon Squeezer because of its distinct, ribbed profile. Built between eighteen ninety-three and eighteen ninety-four, the building provided artists a dedicated space for exhibitions and studios. Architect Constantin Lipsius designed the space to replace the old Bruehl Terrace structures, creating a landmark that dominates the Elbe riverfront with its ornate, neo-baroque stone facade.
