Holy Cross Church

The Kreuzkirche rises over the Altmarkt with a square tower that reaches ninety-two meters into the sky. This is the oldest church in Dresden and the home of the Kreuzchor, a boys' choir founded in the thirteenth century. While the current structure dates to the eighteenth century, the church has burned down and been rebuilt five times. During the final months of the Second World War, firebombs gutted the interior, yet the choir continued to sing in the basement throughout the destruction.
