Königpassage Barockviertel Dresden

The Königpassage features a barrel-vaulted ceiling covered in intricate, white rococo stucco work that contrasts sharply with the plain stone walls of the surrounding architecture. Built in the mid-eighteenth century, this narrow corridor connected the prestigious Hauptstrasse to the private residence of the merchant Johann Christian Schramm. While the nearby streets were centers of public life, Schramm used this passage to move his goods and himself away from the city crowds. The elaborate plaster remains from his original entryway.
