Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments "Fivos Anoyanakis" - Centre for Ethnomusicology

The Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments occupies a restored nineteenth-century mansion with a distinctive ochre facade and a small, walled courtyard in the Plaka neighborhood. Inside, the collection holds over one thousand instruments gathered by musicologist Fivos Anoyanakis over several decades. He spent years traveling to remote villages to document how people built and played these tools. Anoyanakis insisted that a shepherd’s flute made from a reed mattered as much as a professionally crafted bouzouki, and he curated the entire display himself.
