The residence of Pandit Samta Prasad sits in the narrow lanes of Piplani Katra, distinguished by a simple iron gate and a plain facade that reveals little of the rhythm once contained within. Known widely as Gudai Maharaj, Prasad was a tabla maestro who drew giants of Indian classical music to this house for decades. While his hands defined the Banaras Gharana style of drumming, he spent his final years here, teaching students and hosting intimate evening performances that echoed against these stone walls.
