Hanuman Chai Bhandar

other

A sign painted in fading yellow letters marks the shopfront of Hanuman Chai Bhandar, tucked away in the dense lanes of Bulanala. For generations, this stall has built its reputation on a single kettle of masala chai, simmered continuously over a coal fire. Local traders and pilgrims gather here at dawn to drink the tea from small, unbaked clay cups called kulhads. Once the tea is finished, the cup is tossed to the ground to return to the earth as dust.
