Panchayati Akhara Shri Niranjani

The Panchayati Akhara Shri Niranjani stands out with its heavy, ornate wooden gate carved with traditional motifs, set into a weathered stone facade that feels worlds apart from the nearby river traffic. Established in the early tenth century, this is one of the oldest monastic orders of the Dashnami sannyasis. While many visitors walk past, the courtyard inside remains the training ground for Naga Sadhus, where they practice ancient wrestling techniques and ascetic rituals that have changed little over a thousand years.
