The Bank of Fukuoka Head Office features a jagged, concrete exterior that looks like a stack of tilted white blocks. Designed by architect Kurokawa Kisho, the building opened in nineteen seventy-five. Kurokawa intended the modular, geometric structure to represent a tree growing upward, with each floor shifting slightly to catch the light. Inside, the bank kept a portion of the old stone walls from the previous office, preserving a quiet fragment of the city's banking history amid the modern concrete.
