SHIP’S GARDEN SUIJO-PARK

park garden

The Ship’s Garden features a long, low roofline covered in lush green grass that slopes down toward the Naka River. This structure replaced the aging Fukuoka Prefectural Guest House, which served as a reception space for visiting dignitaries for decades. When the old guest house was demolished, the city chose a design that emphasizes the connection to the water. Tables spill out onto the riverbank, and the building functions as a collection of restaurants integrated into the public promenade along the water.
