Seiko House Ginza Clock Tower

The Seiko House Ginza Clock Tower sits at the corner of the Ginza crossing, topped by a rounded, decorative copper dome. Kintaro Hattori, the founder of the company, opened his first shop on this site in eighteen eighty-one. After the Great Kanto Earthquake destroyed the original building in nineteen twenty-three, the current structure rose in its place. The architect Jin Watanabe designed it to withstand future tremors, even hiding a hidden, reinforced skeleton of steel and concrete behind its polished stone facade.
