Deliplein

Deliplein is a circular plaza anchored by a jagged, red steel sculpture that rises like a sharp wave from the pavement. Before this space became a hub for theaters and cafés, it was the gritty epicenter of Rotterdam’s infamous red-light district. Sailors from all over the world flooded these streets in the early twentieth century, turning the neighborhood into a chaotic port enclave. Today, the square serves as a quiet stage for local performances, masking the rougher maritime history beneath its stones.
