The Fenix food factory across the water might grab your eye, but the modest brick building on the corner of the Deliplein, known as the Belvédère, holds a different weight. In the nineteen twenties, this was the heart of the Katendrecht neighborhood. Sailors coming off ships in the Rotterdam harbor found their way here for music, drinks, and a sense of home. It became the epicenter of the local nightlife, especially for the Chinese community that settled in this very street.
