Father Bernatek’s Bridge

Father Bernatek’s Bridge stands out because of the nine bronze acrobats suspended by cables above the walking path. Designed by Jerzy Kedziora, these life-sized figures appear to be balancing, hanging, or performing gymnastic feats over the Vistula River. The bridge connects the historic Kazimierz district with the Podgorze area, replacing a demolished crossing from the nineteen thirties. It serves both pedestrians and cyclists, while the sculptures sway slightly when the wind picks up, creating a constant sense of motion.
