Karakter began as a small independent publishing house, run by Małgorzata Szczurek and Przemysław Dębowski from their home, before they opened this physical space. They focus on translated literature and high-quality essays, often choosing titles that larger houses ignore. When the shop opened, the owners filled the shelves with works that mirrored their own editorial focus on visual clarity and substance.
