The Jagiellonian University History Institute occupies a Gothic building on Golebia Street characterized by its heavy stone portal and high, narrow windows that date back centuries. Scholars have walked these floors since the building served as a residential college for students in the late middle ages. In nineteen seventy-three, during an interior renovation, workers uncovered hidden wall paintings from the fifteenth century. These paintings depict academic and religious scenes that remained sealed behind plaster for hundreds of years.
