Collegium Iuridicum (Krakau)

The Collegium Iuridicum stands out for its thick, lime-washed walls and the heavy, seventeenth-century stone portal that guards its main entrance. This building housed the law faculty of the Jagiellonian University for hundreds of years. Students once studied civil and canon law within these heavy walls, often in rooms that stayed cold and dark through the long Krakow winters. In the late seventeen hundreds, Hugo Kollontaj reformed the university here, insisting that faculty hold lectures in Polish instead of Latin.
