Isaac Jakubowicz Synagogue

The Isaac Jakubowicz Synagogue features a high, plain attic wall decorated with decorative scrolls, a distinctive profile that rises above the surrounding buildings in the Kazimierz district. Built in sixteen forty-four by a wealthy merchant, Isaac Jakubowicz, the structure survived centuries of war and neglect. During the German occupation, the interior was stripped and the building fell into ruin. Today, the space contains rows of simple wooden benches and weathered plaster walls that hold the echoes of its long, often difficult history.
