Szeroka

Szeroka Street functions as the wide, cobbled spine of the Kazimierz district. It stretches out as a generous, open rectangle, quite unlike the cramped alleys that define the rest of this neighborhood. For centuries, this space served as the commercial center for the Jewish community of Kraków. Merchants set up stalls here to sell everything from textiles to spices, and families lived in the tall, narrow buildings lining the edges. It remains the site of the annual Jewish Culture Festival every summer.
