Built in the early twentieth century, the structure serves as the heart of the University of Santiago’s humanities programs. During the nineteen thirties, the building became a site of intense political friction, where students and professors clashed over the shifting ideologies of the era, leading to the dismissal of several prominent intellectuals from their teaching posts.
